Title: "Perception (Part 1)"
Today, I went fabric shopping!!! Hehee! I don’t know which is more exciting for me; buying clothes, or buying fabric (see me talking like I’m one cash madam like that. Anyway, I claim it!). I had already told my companions that they shouldn’t get upset if we went through the market and I didn't pick anything, because I can be like that a lot of times. If I plan to get something, and I have a clear idea of what I’m looking for, if I don't see that exact thing or something similar, I would probably not just get anything. On the other hand, I have my rare moments of spontaneous purchases.
After going up and down and around the market, I settled for two fabrics. The first was a clear choice- leopard print. I like the simplicity of the pattern and the fact that it is inspired by the appearance of such a powerful animal, gives it a fierceness, and I like “fierce”. I would either make it into a short easy dress (no stress of zips and slits) or a spicy 21st century iro and buba. *winks* The second fabric that I bought was predominantly black, and had white cats all over it to make up the prints. Everyone in that stall raised an eyebrow at me for looking at the material twice, and I was just laughing. I ended up buying it because I felt it was weird enough to stand out, and that is aside the fact that it is BLACK! And it was just pretty and interesting, and I couldn’t let it by.
By the time I got home and showed your grandma my newly acquired treasure, she took one look at my cat-print cloth and she was like, “I don’t like this one”, saying something about why I went to the market, and of allllll the beautiful things that I could buy, it was something that could be witchcraft something that I bought. Hehee! I was just like, “no naaaw. It’s not even like that at all. Try to see the beauty in this thing.” For where! She did not see it oo. SO I was like, “okay. I’ll pray on it before I cut it up and make it into a top."
So it got me wondering about we people and perception, for example, I have a friend who is attracted to weird accessories (we are alike in that respect). She once had a brooch that had a large scorpion on it (it mysteriously got missing, although I think that someone must have intentionally thrown it away. LoL). The other day she was drooling over some stud earrings that were shaped like skulls ( I don’t think I’d buy that or wear that though. I care too much). Some people might pick up on her quirky taste and begin to view her in a strange way, whereas she has such a caring heart.
I wonder if I’ll end up making my cat-print top... But then again, I probably will. If I feel like being different, sometimes I like to commit and go all the way. That doesn't make me to be in cahoots with cats, it just means that the way I see beauty is slightly different from the way you see beauty. If that is strange, then please, I don’t mind. Like my friend says, “weird is pretty”.
